Volupool calculation method and accuracy
A useful calculation explains its inputs, corrections and remaining uncertainty instead of presenting a number without context.
Volupool combines the outline with the floor profile, then corrects for submerged features. Accuracy starts with your measurements.
Method principle
The pool outline provides a width at each position; the floor profile provides depth at the same point. Volupool combines them over thin slices and adds their volumes.
This is better suited to free forms and multi-zone floors than one global coefficient.
Features and spas
Steps, benches and shelves occupy space, so their solid volume is deducted. An internal spa shares the pool volume, while an external spa can be calculated separately and added to the project total.
Sources of uncertainty
Major uncertainties come from measurements, difficult curves, the actual waterline and geometric simplification of features.
Volupool's indicative ±3% margin is not a guarantee. It assumes the pool is measured and described carefully; irregular shapes can exceed it.
How to verify
Check units and floor-zone lengths, then compare with a simple formula to catch a major discrepancy.
During a complete fill, compare water-meter readings while limiting other use. This is the best practical reference for water actually added.
What the result does not replace
Volupool does not calculate hydraulic head loss or prescribe chemical treatment. It cannot replace product instructions, water analysis or professional validation where safety or system sizing requires it.

Why an indicative ±3%?
It is an order of magnitude for a well-measured pool, not a guarantee for every shape.
Does it support several slopes?
Yes. Each floor zone can have different start and end depths.
Is a water meter more accurate?
For a complete fill isolated from other uses, it is generally the best practical check.
